Our great friend Graham Aubrey had a terrible fall in Newcastle just after our festival this year and has broken his hip.
He has been in the John Hunter hospital ever since and has been suffering complications. His wife, Stella, has been by his side the whole time and has moved into Newcastle to make it easier to visit Graham.
Our whole committe wishes Graham a speedy recovery and look forward to him getting back to his teachings and concerts.

A late notice withdrawal of our Irish dancers has left us with a gap in the program at about 2;50pm. Not to worry- some quick thinking (by Ron, who will take all the credit :) has us filling the gap with "The Address to the Haggis" Piped in by Ken McLeish, we will have the whole party that will be doing it again at our Ceilidh in the evening at Nelson Bay Diggers.

The committee will be ramping up very soon to get our 2011 festival squared away for September 17th.
We are always looking for strong healthy lads and lasses to help us old farts with the set up and pack up on the grounds.
If you are available and would like to give us a hand please do not hesitate to contact any one of the committee members with your details

Another great day in Port Stephens on Saturday 18th September 2010, saw the pipe bands, Celtic dancers, East Coast strong men and Clans enjoying the sunshine and entertainment. Fine food, wine and ale kept the crowds content as the bands and choir played and the strong men strained:) Some say they even saw a leprechaun flitting around.

A representative group from Port Stephens Celtic Ass. went along to help the Port Stephens Coast Guard celebrate 30 years of service to the boating community . The Coast Guard held a dinner on 28th Feb 2010 at Tilligerry RSL. We all had a great time and I have posted a few snaps on the “Scrapbook “page. We even managed to keep our” wild hairy haggis” under control;-)

While we were having our festival, this was going on back in Scotland! Taken from the Edinburgh Evening News:

Jacobites and Redcoats face off in Lothians
Published Date: 17 September 2009

THE boom of cannon and musket fire is to be heard once again in East Lothian as Bonnie Prince Charlie and his Highland army prepare to defeat government forces.
This time around, however, it will all be in the name of entertainment, as the reenactment of the 1745 Battle of Prestonpans swings into action.

Participants will set up an encampment at Cuthill Park from 3pm tomorrow, and at 4:30am on Saturday the Highlanders will begin their dawn march.

They will have rather more to look forward to than their predecessors, however, with the march culminating in breakfast at the Prestoungrange Gothenburg pub.

There will be storytelling and weapons demonstrations through the morning, and the laying of wreaths at Gardiner Obelisk and Battle Cairn at 10am.

Battle commences at 2pm in the Cuthill Park, raging for two hours, until the Redcoats flee to the beach at Morrison's Haven, making good their escape.

Congratulations to those who worked hard to produce a festival to be proud of. It was a braw weekend - lots of Celtic spirit and camaraderie - and the "kirkin' o' the tartan" ceremony surely brought a lump to the throat! Here's looking forward to next year...

Well-what a day.
The sun was out the pipers were in tune and the drummers kept the beat. fantastic!!
A dark horse emerged from the ranks of the PCYC (Tim) to win the Light Caber toss and the RAAFies got knocked off by Taffs Tragics in the tug-of-war.
Can any one beat 98 push-ups??? Well done to Eva from the RAAF Base!!.
By scottyM at Wednesday 02 September 2009
Hope all you people out there are getting your TUG-OF-WAR teams together because the RAAFies recon they are going to win it hands down againg this year.
